Hope you enjoyed the pictures of 5 of the HOPw's. It was interesting for us all to meet. We all had a good time at a unorganized power problem first day of QuakeCon. It was a very interesting and cool convention of Quakers.

Saturday Mrs. Wormburner and I headed back to Kansas. We debated about staying another night and going to Quakecon for the drawing. They were giving away a Micron 233mhz computer. I wouldn't have minded checkin out the glquake workshop. But in the end we decided to come home early. I had to drag her kickin and screamin, hehe, seriously though, she was the one who wanted to stay for the drawing...
Friday, I was supposed to go out and eat with Ledfoot and Fluf Bunnie, but they both canceled on me. So Mrs Wormburner and I went to the Quakecon Party at the Harvey Inn ballroom. Mrs. Wormburner was picked to go get a prize and she got an ION storm T-shirt and decal. I'm kickin myself cuz I was gonna grab CrazeNDhead's tickets for the drawing, but for some stupid reason I left them with him and we would have won an Intense 3d video card in the drawing with ticket number 800. Each night Wednesday thru Saturday they drew tickets and gave away prizes from t-shirts, headphones, spaceorbs, 3d video cards and finally a computer. They showed the release of Ranger Gone Bad on a Big Screen TV and some other demo's. All very cool. Then a band played for a bit, but we left along with 80% of the crowd. I checked back at Quakecon one last time and picked up my t-shirt and hat and headed out.
Thursday the one on one tourney was supposed to start at 11:00 a.m. but as usual things were quite slow. I showed up about 8:00 p.m. and found out I missed signing up for the tourney as a subsitute by about 10 minutes. Ledfoot had come by to visit CrazeNDhead.HOPw in the afternoon. CrazeNDhead said that Boogyman.HOPw left to go back to Lawton, OK about noon and Fluf Bunnie stopped by to pick up his t-shirt. CrazeNDhead made the cut in the first elimination round. He played in round 15 and here is the scores (oops scores are gone). He told me he hadn't been to sleep since I left him at 2:00 a.m. the night before. He looked pretty beat. Mrs. Wormburner and I stayed around for the drawing and to watch CrazeNDhead's one on one match that was supposed to start at 11:00 p.m. Well like most of the tourney Craz's match started about 1:00 a.m. He was playing TEnima. Minutes before the match Craz's was catchin some ZZZZ's until I woke him up.. Quake Refs had made the last call for the sleepin Craz... Well Craz went on to a -1 to 8 start.. it was the first to 15 and you have to win by two. It was actually pretty close.. the Ref had to tell the two players that the match was going on and it was for real about 3 minutes into the match. Seems both players were playing cautious.. neither had a kill both were playing hit and run for the health... but Craz fought his way back to a 14 to 9 standing but finally lost 15 to 9.... He did his best. Craze was close in the drawing though.. he missed winning by one ticket twice and another time missed by two tickets.. hmmm bummer.
Wednesday- Well Mrs. Wormburner and I arrived at about 1:00 p.m. and registered for the QuakeCon and paid my $25. We bummed around a bit and met a Japanese writer Takashi Ishikawa VP of Tokyo Tower Communications, Inc out of LA, that was here to cover the tourney for Japan. He needed to go to Best Buy to get High Roller some headphones. High Roller is one of the better Japanese Quake Players. He is also one of Japans best writers. But the on-line gaming company he works for sent him here to play. So he got a free expense paid trip to QuakeCon. Well Mrs. Worm and I took the Ishikawa to Best Buy and he ended up getting $108 headphones for $49 since the display was marked wrong. When we got back to Holiday Inn I told my wife that could be Ledfoot because he said he would be wearing a black quake t-shirt with a big rip in the back, but this guy didn't have a rip in it. The guy was pretty tan and I figured that was a good bet for a roofer. A few minutes later we met and it turns out Fluf Bunnie.HOPw was with him. We all went to HOOTERS for some beers. Then we drove my wife to my cousin's work so she could go home. Ledfoot, FlufBunnie and I headed back to QuakeCon and we ran into Boogyman.HOPw who had come down from Lawton, OK to see me for the day. We all headed to the bar to play pool. Then we got paged by CrazeNDhead who came up from Austin, TX. Craz was staying until Friday. Craz brought his computer and we set it up with the rest of the hundreds of computers. The tourney was running waaaayyy behind schedule. It was supposed to start at 5:00 p.m. Ledfoot, CrazeNDhead, FlufBunnie and I were all going to play today. We all took turns on Craz's computer for 10 or so minutes Hoppin from game to game practing. I was in a level with Killcreek a female player that beat John Romero. Well a guy named Legion TUS was kickin our butt he had 55 and I 28 and Killcreek 27 on e4m3 without quads.. It was 10 minutes of fun....A bit before midnight the tourney was set to take off, Ledfoot and CrazeNDhead were in the first two groups to fight 12 playes on e4m3. Well after a half hour they called a halt to the tourney and said it would begin at 11:00 am. Thursday due to network difficulties. That eliminated all the HOPw's except for Craz who was stayin tell Friday afternoon. Ledfoot and FlufBunnie then went home. I visited with Boogyman and Craz until 2:00 a.m but then had an hour drive back to where I was staying.. Had to get up at 8:00 a.m. to go to 6 Flags..
That is the trip.. of course I did quite a bit in Dallas, 6 Flags, went to a golf driving range, went to the zoo, planet hollywood, an Irish pub where I stuck a dart in my leg, and visited with friends. It was cool meeting the HOPw's, all are cool people and I wish them well.
