Well not much to say about this match except we were seriously out pinged and we need a lot more practice.

Both games were played at their server choice because we seemed to get decent pings there and it met all the criteria. and we also needed to get this game done quickly as well so while they were ready we said ok.

Once again I am amazed that we were able to fill our team with enough people to play. The first game we actually had 5 people playing

Hatriq, Clipper, AK-47, Jim13, and me. It was their map since they were home team and they chose Q3wctf2. I have to hand it to clan ES (Elite Strike), you could tell they have played together for awhile.

I never saw just one of them coming into base... it was usually 2 or 3 of them at a time. Even when they were just running around in the middle of the map they usually had groups of 2 or more.

This is what we need to learn as a team... this is not a game of kill kill kill... in order to score points in this tourney it doesn't matter how many frags you get.. ONLY how many captures you get.

At the end of the first game score was a complete shutout... 15 to 0.

We went on to play our choice of maps which we had all voted on being Q3ctf2... it was another shutout 15 to 0. Anybody thinking they did a horrible job... DON'T. We only played as best we could for the little practice we have put into this.

I think we just need more time as a team to practice. If I can't trust the defense to hold the base then I can't go out and capture their flag... I can't defend the Base all by myself either... anyone respawning should pick up armor and other weapons as they go so that it makes it harder for the other team attacking.

Too many times in the second match esp. did I notice that we had left all the armor and power ups for the incoming team. Thanks go out to everyone who played and I hope you don't look at this game as a waste of time. I know I learned some new control points with the rail gun on this map that I wont forget soon.

Wow that was a late match!! We didn't get finished with this one until 1:00am Central Time. Being the first Q3CTF match not to mention Tourney that we've ever played we had quite a hard time finding a server that would match all the criteria of the tourney while trying to keep everyone's pings happy too.

But we finally settled on the best compromise we could, we had a slight ping advantage at our server choice playing (Q3CTF1), but overall we were all lagged during most of the game. Game started and we got overrun... took us about half of the game just to regain ourselves and managed to not only hold them off but get 2 more captures while we were at it! Not bad for only being thru 2 practices. I thought we all did well considering the challengers were ranked 4th on the Tribes ladder.

The second Game was played at their server which wasn't even close on pings... they had only 1 real lagged player but all 4 of us were very sluggish, and to top it off Hat REALLY HATES those "bouncy maps" heheh =) we played q3CTF4 (their choice) and we tried to catch them off guard both games Hat said he was killed at our base at least 4 times with their flag in hand. well we managed to keep them challenged for awhile, but when their sniper was up on that rail/camp spot it was just impossible. (he was of course solely responsible for my -5 score) =( But since the tourney doesn't count frags or score unless it's a tie I didn't worry about it. just focused on capturing their flag. We managed to get theirs 3 times! which again I thought was better than I thought we'd do esp since AK-47 hadn't even SEEN the map before. the best quote of the game was when AK asked before we started... "hey what do these Red Circle thingys do?" =) I loved that.. it really helped for me just to laugh and not worry about how we were gonna do. So instead we just had fun. Thanks to everyone who showed up for practices and Matches and stuck it out I know it was an EXTREMELY long time to have to wait around while we set that one up. I know that Hat is working hard not to let that happen again. Thanks Hat for all the hard work you put into scheduling and correspondence with the tourney officials just to keep us in the tourney so we wouldn't have a forfeit on the record!! Lets hope Saturdays match goes much smoother!

Q3 CTF Match is Friday and most likely Saturday night. We have to play one on Friday to make up for last week...and 1 on Saturday or at least before the 31st to finish week2. I hope we have some more show up or we will have to just hand it over to them. So instead of practice on Friday looks like a match. if your playing make sure you let me know which CTF map you like best and that will be our map that we get to choose.

Make sure you go download the threewave maps from fileplanet or where ever. because if the other team chooses it and we don't have it... then we will forfeit. I will leave a reply to this message to let you know when the match is as soon as I know for sure.

HOPw q3 CTF practice went fairly well. We had 4 HOPw's show up with myself included... and some HOPw friends to help make things fill up. We played a solid 2 hours and made some good strides but we still have a long way to go. Need more teamplay and more tactical thinking like grabbing lots of armor before rushing the other teams base. And as always MUCH more team talking!!!

Anyone wanting to play in matches and practice should have the following two things since this is what the tourney that we are in requires... Q3 full version & the point release is recommended but not required. the threewave maps. The rules in the tourney are pretty straight forward... 2 matches played we pick one map they pick one map. 15 capture limit and 20 time limit. if both matches come out to be a tie then a third match is played frags don't matter unless it's to settle a tie after the third match. we currently just barely have enough to field a match. I have heard from others who are either working most nights and can't make practice or who are out of town or are gonna be like Kontra and flesh. thanks for showing up for practice RedWolf, AK-47, and Hatriq! Hurry up flesh and get back from Mexico!!! anyone else that wants to join in the fun... show up on Thursday and Friday at 9:00pm central time.

HOPw q3 server: 24.94.194.198 port 27966. Hat is trying to see when the other team is going to want to play us. Looks like at this point it could be on Saturday. Any questions? ICQ or email me.

Wednesday, January 26th

I may have missed a few HOPw's on ICQ / email since I need to update my list at home with current emails.  And now a day's who knows if your getting my ICQ messages.  But we are in a weekly Quake3 CTF Tourney.  I doubt we will have enough people to field a team, but who knows.

Get with DForce.HOPw and he will organize practice's.  He sent out an ICQ and wants to have nightly practice's this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

As far as I know we forfeited this weeks match vs. Clan FTM.  I had received an email from them last week and replied to them but the return email the person used was not a good email.  I asked DForce to check to see if any HOPw's had agreed to fight this clan but was unable to find out who accepted set up a challenge.

I've said in the past feel free to set up matches.  However Please do not commit our clan to a weekly Tourney.  We just do not have enough HOPw's that play the same game at the same days and hours to field weekly matches.  Should we get more people playing at the same hour's we can revive that.  But as it stand's now we have some HOPw's that play only day time, other's only weekends, some early evenings and some late at night.  One other point is that most HOPw's are midwest or east so always consider us a East coast Team.

The tourney is at Teamplay.net  it is the Quake 3 CTF Showdown.  You can go there and check out the CTF schedule to see which clans we are facing and the date the match needs to be completed.  We must field 4 players or we forfeit the match.  So any HOPw's interested in playing contact DForce.HOPw he and or Hatriq.HOPw will organize and conduct practice's and be in charge of the match.  I will forward all email / ICQ to all HOPw's and post all news here.  Use ICQ, email and our Message board to talk to each other.  All HOPw's current ICQ and emails are posted on my roster page.  All my quake pages can be accessed from the above drop down menu or off my quake links page.  Whoever organizes a match is responsible for taking a picture of starting players pings and end score.  Send me both pictures to each match.  Send the score picture's to the Tourney person.

Sunday, January 16th

All Quake1, QuakeWorld and Quake3 server pages have been updated and checked.  The servers are running and HOPw's play at the listed pages.  Check out my Server Page to find the active IP's.

RedWolf sent out an ICQ a few days ago with a potential Quake 1 clan match.  If someone wants to set up a fight.  Feel free to do it.  Follow these suggestions:  Must be a 4on4, we name a level, they name a level, both clans can choose a server but both must agree that it is acceptable for the 4 starters that will play.  I also want whichever HOPw's are interested in playing to get together and practice the opposing clans level.  Also don't accept a match if we are so overmatched that there isn't a chance to win. And now that Quake code has been released I would prefer you know and trust the opponent not to cheat.

Kontra wrote " I'm running a q3 server @ 24.8.255.134 probably not good for modems though. q3 is just running all the death match and tourney maps on a 10 minute 15 frag rotation the game speed is set at 430 default is 360 i think.q3dm1 has low gravity .port for q3"

I Just noticed that they released the code to Quake, Quakeworld, GLquake and GLquakeworld and guess what?! It seems there is alot more cheating being developed. So if you notice people going faster then they normally should that is one cheat occuring now.  I believe I might have been a victim of that yesterday.  I think it was in quakeworld but it could have been net quake.  Another HOPw was watching, I can't remember who, but made a comment that my opponent was moving very quickly for his ping.  So I guess new versions of quakeworld are in the works.  I'm not sure if anyone is working on new netquake soulutions yet. But this sight is working on solutions http://www.quakelives.com.

Interesting movie.  70mb 32 minutes long Quad God.  http://www.gamerush.com/files/movies/quadgod/

Yes we still have a Quake 1 server running.  Always check my server page for links to the servers most of us are playing at.  The above drop down menu links to the page as well as off my main page under quake links.

Hi am working on moving some of my Clan HOPw pages over to http://www.clanpages.com at the moment the ftp doesn't seem  to be working so I can't upload any files or pages.  However I did create a new message board for our clan.  Hope you all start to use it.  We need a way to keep in contact with each other more often.  The  clan is getting pretty big so it doesn't hurt to get to know the newer HOPw's and vice versa.
