First Annual
Whidbey Island Highland Games

Very new to the realm of competition, this being only our
second time to compete, and not expecting to place at all our first year,
we placed 2nd!
Judge Maureen Lee's remarks were almost embarrassingly complimentary!

Dedication of Wallace Hall

at Camp Cross
on Loff's Bay of Lake Coeur d'Alene
----------------------------------------------------------------
Recently retired Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane, and a lover of bagpipes, The Rt. Rev. Leigh Allen Wallace and wife Pat were shocked to tears to find P/M Ross springing from behind a bush as the procession began from the boat house (The Tabernacle!!) to the new building!  A quiet procession became grand, hymns were accompanied by both the pipes and a Seattle Celtic band, both of whom played at a dance afterward for the youth.

Please see Pipes Major page for details concerning P/M Ross.

Trooper Cpl. Linda Carol (Laughlin) Huff
----------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday, 17 June, 1998
.....
Making a night-time exit from the Coeur d'Alene ISP District Office, Trooper Huff observed someone breaking into a staff car in the parking lot.  The individual promptly opened fire on her and she returned fire.  Having critically wounded the suspect, Trooper Huff died from ten critical bullet wounds.
... ..
This remarkablly selfless devotion to duty leaves behind her husband, Trooper Corporal Chad Huff, sons Clinton and Zach, daughter Rena, and a deeply shaken community.

With bow cannon and muskets afire to announce the approach, a flotilla of reproduction French-Canadian bateaux, bearing members of the Northwest Brigade of the American Mountain Men (AMM) and P/M Ross (standing, playing pipes in green bateau) reenact the arrival in 1823 of Hudson's Bay Co. Governor Stevenson, with his personal piper.

P/M of the Lilac City Scots-Irish P. B.
After a wedding, outside Spokane's First Presbyterian Church
----------------------------------------------------------------
P/M Ross performs his own arrangements of classical or traditional Celtic wedding repertoire, hymns and processional music at over two dozen weddings and religious services per year, often with the stirring accompaniment of other professional musicians on large pipe organs and brass instruments.  Most of the region's larger Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic and a few Evangelical churches, indeed the Jewish Temple Beth Shalom have been brought to full vigor by this rich, scintillating musical combination.

Please see Pipes Major page for details concerning P/M Ross.
