| Captian: Peter Oven Est: 02.20.04 Description: The cluster project has been an on going project that has been passed down from form GU ieee clubs. What exactly is a cluster? A computer cluster is a group of loosely coupled computers that work together closely so that in many respects it can be viewed as though it were a single computer. Clusters are commonly, but not always, connected through fast local area networks. Clusters are usually deployed to improve speed and/or reliability over that provided by a single computer, while typically being much more cost-effective than single computers of comparable speed or reliability. One specific use of the cluster, is that it has been programmed so that it can calculate complex algorithms for the math department. Currently, we are working to relocate the cluster; space availability is a recent issue taht we are currently trying to resolve.
