SPECIALIZATION
CAD of microwave/millimeter-wave modules and subsystem design
Computer Aided Design (CAD) of: passive components (e.g., filters and multiplexers) and special waveguide structures (substrate integrated waveguide), small antenna arrays and other radiating structures, receiver and transmitter systems.
Computational Electromagnetics for RF/Wireless Engineering and Photonics
The numerical approximation and solution of Maxwell’s equations using full-wave methods, such as mode-matching, method of moments and finite-element algorithms.
CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS
Finite Element Method Exercises for use in Undergraduate Engineering Programs
National Science Foundation (NSF), Division of Education grant to support the development of finite element tutorials in six undergraduate engineering areas: structural analysis, vibration analysis, electromagnetic analysis, biometric modeling, fluid dynamics, and steady state heat transfer. Research collaboration between University of Pacific, Tuskegee University, United States Air Force Academy, University of Arkansas, Washington State University and Gonzaga University. Amount awarded: $125K. Start Date: March 1, 2006. Project Duration: Three years.
Design of millimeter-wave components in non-standard waveguiding structures
Investigations
into components designed in E-plane and H-plane substrate integrated
waveguides and a using new technique that embeds a rectangular waveguide into
an adhesive layer that is sandwiched between two conducting plates by a
low-cost screening operation. Project is on-going.
