There are two computer facilities utilized by the students and faculty of the School of Engineering. These are the Gonzaga University Computer Center and the Engineering Computer Center. The Gonzaga University Computer Center has several facilities, which are available to all students and faculty twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. These are: (a) The Hewlett-Packard 9000 K-100 Unix system, located in room 016 of the Administration building, is the central academic system used to support the various academic programs. Engineering applications include GTStrudl, ANSYS, Control C, Maple, and a variety of other applications. (b) The University Microcomputer Lab, located in room 243 of the Administration building, is available to all students of the university. The room is equipped with thirty workstations including a multi-media station and four printers, all networked via an academic Novell network. (c) A central modem pool allows students and faculty to access University networked services remotely such as the central academic computer system, Foley Library, the Internet, and other departmental services. The Academic Support Specialist and Microcomputer Support Analyst are available to assist students and faculty on specific academic questions. Funding for all central computer resources comes from the University's budgeted funds. |
