Engineering Computer Center
There are two computer facilities utilized by the students and faculty of the School of Engineering. These are the Gonzaga University Computer Center and the Engineering Computer Center. The Engineering Computer Center (ECC) is used by engineering students throughout their years of study, beginning with the introduction of all students to solids modeling and CAD systems in their freshman graphics course. Students use the ECC for courses in such areas as control systems, electrical circuit modeling and analysis, VLSI design, electronics design, signals and systems, power systems analysis and design, and senior design. Engineering faculty use ECC in support of their research and course offerings. The present (end of spring semester 2001) configuration of ECC is: (a) Room 101. Nine-station classroom containing Pentium based computers. The classroom also has an HP Laser Jet 4 and a Tektronix Phaser 740 printers. Software in use includes AutoCAD 2000 (graphics software), Microsoft Office 2000, Verilog (a circuit simulation program for large digital systems), Epoch (a VLSI chip compiler), Ansys (a Finite Element Analysis program), Maple (a mathematics program), and Matlab 5.3 (a mathematical analysis program). (b) Room 103 - Twenty-seven station classroom with Pentium based computers. Printers are an HP Laser Jet 4500 DN 2II and an HP Laser Jet 5000 GN. Software used in this room includes: Microsoft Office 2000, Maple 6, Matlab 5.3, AutoCAD 2000, PSpice (circuit simulation), and Program CC (controls). (c) Room 104 - 15-station classroom containing Pentium based computers. The classroom contains an HP LaserJet 5000 GN printer. Software in these computers are similar to Room 103. (d) Room 105 - CAD workroom containing six Pentium-based computers mainly for running AutoCAD and 3D-Studio. Software are similar to Room 103. This room has two printers: HP LaserJet 4M and Tektronix Phaser 740. |
