Automation LaboratoryEENG 413L is the accompanying 1-credit lab for EENG 413 Automation, which is a 2-credit elective course for electrical and computer engineering students. It is offered upon sufficient demand in either the fall or spring semester of the senior year. This laboratory is where electrical and computer engineering students learn how to use programmable logic controllers (PLC) to automate manufacturing equipment and systems. Students use a variety of PLC programming languages such as ladder, state logic and grafcet. Equipment to be automated is available in the laboratory giving the students an opportunity to observe the performance associated with each program implementation. Students also learn how to develop a graphic man-machine interface that allows an operator to monitor and control remotely a large number of machines. |
