We call her Bonica, meaning Grandma.
She lives in a house adjoining ours.
On a hill overlooking Beius, a man herds his
goats back into town.
Buno (Grandpa), in the white hat, has just
sold one of the pigs that our family raises.
After much squealing, he and the buyers
were able to lead it out to the street from their
backyard pen.
This year's potato harvest lies on the patio.
The crop was small this year due to
very little rain.
A new country; a new look.
Dad bares skin that has been covered
for 25 years.
Jana finishes cranking the homemade
ice cream. Our Romanian friends had never
experienced making ice cream, but they
enjoyed the process and the product.
Aurelia and Clark play out front with their
new neighborhood friends.
A ordinary sight in Beius, as villagers take
their wares to the market.
The lady on the curb became a little upset

when I pulled out my camera.
Opening ceremonies at Clark's
Romanian school. He is attending the
first grade, while covering second grade
material at home in the afternoons in
order to keep pace with his U.S. schooling.
Sunset in the Beius cemetery. The cemetery
is located on a hill overlooking town
and is a very peaceful spot to rest (even for us
living people).
A view from the cemetery over the valley
in which Beius is located. The constant
smog makes for great sunsets.
"Nu ma surprinde deloc!"
Mom and Nini outside of Clark's school.
Nini is off to University in Cluj-Napoca soon
and will be missed.
Dad and I fine tune our swings while doing
some fall rug cleaning.
Mom made tortillas one afternoon; together
with chocolate chip cookies,
we had a wonderful "like home" meal.
