Andrew's Summer Projects

I have been doing a lot of artsy-fartsy stuff this summer. I'll go through everything I've done so far, and I'll add new stuff that I am doing.

#1: Origami

circa 5/12/1 - 5/27/1

I made some cool unit origami stuff. More info/instructions here.

#2: CD Coasters

6/26/1

I scratched designs into useless cds and then glued a pad to the bottom, making neat looking coasters out of CDs. More info/instructions here.

#3: CD Candle

circa 7/1/1 - 7/5/1, 7/14/1 - 7/24/1

I made a candle that is in a case of CDs. More info/instructions here.

#4: Crocheting

circa 7/2/1 - current

I learned how to crochet and have been making some scarves. I have also made a couple hats and a purse. Click here for a listing (pictures included) of all the stuff I have made so far, plus some instructions too..

#5: CD Box

7/24/1

I made a box (the lid is hinged and can open and close) out of some old cd-rs. You can probably figure out how I made this box by looking at the instructions for the cd candle, and just removing the steps involving wax and wick. Also note that it's very easy to remove the label from a cd-r, leaving a clear cd to work with. Oil pastels were used for coloring.

#6: CD Paperweight

8/8/1

A tetrahedron (4 sides; triangles) paperweight made out of old cds, filled with sand. Follow instructions for the cd candle, but make a lid as well. Instead of adding wax, add the sand, and then secure the lid. Voila!

#7: Toothbrush Holder

8/15/1

By now you're probably thinking, "gee andrew, dont you ever have any creative ideas that don't involve CDs?" Well no, I don't. This toothbrush holder holds up to 5 toothbrushes. Click on image to zoom in (it's not any more exciting, just bigger).
