GFWC Kitsap Peninsula is a member of the General Federation
of Women's Clubs (GFWC). Our purpose is to serve our community, educate
our members and promote fellowship.
Our club is networked with GFWC Peninsula District,
GFWC Washington State and the International General Federation of
Women's Clubs.
GFWC Kitsap Peninsula meets the third Thursday of
the month, August through May at 7:00 pm.
Recent Club Projects

Making and distributing " Comfort
Pillows" to hospitals for women with breast cancer to reduce
pain and provide both emotional and physical comfort.

Selling desserts at the Peninsula Dance Theater
performances, such as the Nutcracker at Bremerton High School auditorium.

Libraries 2000 book donations and materials to public
libraries.

Holliday gifts for mothers and stockings for children
at the A.L.I.V. E. shelter.

Donations to food banks and needy families.

Hospital gowns and tote bags for Operation Smile.

International Christmas Child shoeboxes of small
gifts for needy children overseas.

Books for Babies project to encourage reading with
you children.

Bremerton Arts Walk food donations.
GFWC-member clubs maintain an individual identity and focus, while
benefiting from the strength that comes from being a part of an international
organization. Club members select projects and programs from the following
six areas:

THE ARTS - working to bring literature, drama, music,
and cultural opportunities and experiences to members and their
communities.

CONSERVATION - working in areas of preservation
of natural resources, energy and environmental education, recycling
programs, and beautification projects.

EDUCATION - working on school and academic issues,
providing scholarships and educational assistance, as well as leadership
development training for members.

HOMELIFE - working to maintain the quality of life
for women, the aging, and those with disabilities, as well as educating
members on health and consumer issues.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS - working to support international
aid through agencies like CARE, provide education on world policy
issues, and provide opportunities to host foreign visitors.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS - working on programs to strengthen
citizenship, reduce crime, and promote home and highway safety.
