Winterwynd is a small hobby kennel presently located in Boise, Idaho. I began in Labradors
in 1993 and
I am a firm believer in the truly
multi-purpose Labrador. The Labrador should be a versatile dog, capable of performing well
in any and all endeavors. It is in the best interest of the breed to promote the sound,
healthy, typey Labrador that is a pleasure to work and to live with. The best Labradors
can and do win in the show ring, win in the field, and win in the home. Towards these
ends, we have endeavored to excel in a variety of forums and will continue to train for and
compete in multiple disciplines and to breed for excellence in versatility.
Winterwynd embraces the belief that responsible breeding requires a strong commitment to
the improvement of the breed, a keen responsibility for every puppy produced, a thorough
knowledge of pedigrees, bloodlines, and top
producers, and a talent for combining same to produce puppies that surpass their parents in
quality. Breeding is an art accompanied by heavy responsibility and is not for the faint
of heart or the passing fancy. Thus, only top quality animals that have proven themselves
in competition against other potential breeding stock in the show ring and in performance
events, and that are phenotypically sound as evidenced by their genetic clearances (hip,
elbow, eye, etc.), are used in the breeding program here at Winterwynd. Carefully planned,
reared, and socialized litters are available only rarely at Winterwynd.
