Wolverine Time Trail 1/13/07

So I guess I've been just putting , my race reports on the front page. To avoid this becoming a total blog, I'm putting this one here. After the high school race, I got about 30 seconds worth of warmup and then got things organized to start the race. Out of the start I was skiing up the big hill with Scott Nesvold. Towards the top, Paulette Niemi went by with Tom Meyer in tow. Tom continue to chew people up. I settled in just behind Scott for a while and eventually went past Paulette. I was feeling pretty good most spots. Towards the end of the first lap Paulette went past and I jumped on. We hammered up the big hill coming out of the stadium and were pulling in Craig Kalschuer, turned onto the cliffs trail and I was feeling really good. I was hurting a lot, but felt like I could sustain it at least until we caught Craig and I could ski with him. Then I cramped up in my stomach big time. Not something I have a problem with often, but I was slowed to a crawl for a minute or so. I milked it up to the high point and got things under control coming back down. I took it down a notch for most of the rest of the race, and was still skiing well, but not as aggressively as I had been earlier in the race. Up the last couple of hills I almost had Craig pulled back in, but it wasn't quite enough. No worries, it was a great day of training, and probably the hardest I have gone all year. I was worked at the end. After I thawed out we had a sweet awards ceremony.

Results are as complete as I could remember, sorry about any errors, I'm simply transcribing what's on the paper and trying to fill in blanks on teams and last names. Coaches feel free to notify me of errors.
