4/22/07- Still chillin'
I haven't updated here for a good while which can mostly be attributed to the rad April snowfall we recieved. First we have to rewind. I was remarkably un-pro in failing to mention the cool stuff I got to try out after the ABR Spring race. Chris Ransom let me check out the new ProSkate boot and binding combo. The system actually felt pretty good, but the boots hurt my really abnormal feet a lot, so I didn't get to check them out as much as I would have liked. I also checked out a pair of carbonlites that the local FSx boys were playing around on. They were definitely fast skis, if not quite as lively as my World Cups. Towards the end of the day I took out a pair of the new Atomic waxless and they felt darn solid. The marketing pitch is that they ski a little more like kick wax and keep you from developing bad habits. I thought there was some truth to that. They were had pretty bomber kick, but less so than many waxless skis. And the all white (preproduction) graphics were pretty hot. Since then I've been skiing a lot. Just as April hit and I thought skiing was over, we got a foot and half of snow, and the folks at Friends of Valhalla groomed it up. I got in a couple more weeks of skiing before it all went away. I've been getting out on the bike a bit, but nothing too intense yet. Friday Jeff Van Hooser and I went up to Ashwabay to catch one last ski. Pictures and video are up. I think now we're firmly into biking season. I'm planning on taking another week pretty easy before I start firing up the training too hard. The first mountain bike event on the calendar is only about three weeks off so I think I should get in a few miles. In other news, I saw Youngblood Brass Band at Northland College a week or so ago. They tore it up! A very sweet show and they are highly reccomended if they are cruising through your neighborhood. Out.
