On March 3rd, Norma McCorvey, the former Roe of Roe v. Wade, was joined by post-abortive women to mourn the original filing of Roe v. Wade on March 3, 1970.  Ms. McCorvey, joined by women who have suffered through abortion, called on pastors and religious leaders of all faiths to join her in declaring 2003 to be year of prayer and fasting for the end of abortion and healing for post-abortive women.

Father Pavone of Priests for Life and as president of the National Religious Pro Life Council; Dr. Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission; Dr. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries; Dr. David C.             Ms. McCorvey stated: “I am tired of the death of children and the destruction of their mothers.  It is time for this injustice to end.  I wish that my case had never been filed.  But now, as I listen to the pain of women who have had abortions, I am calling on the Church to offer the women of America who have had abortions an opportunity for mercy, forgiveness and reconciliation with their God and their Church through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.  I would like to call upon all the pastors of America to join me in praying for an end to abortion in America and healing for women.”

Many post-abortive women were present with Ms. McCorvey to tell their stories of how abortion hurt them.  Instead of it being a wonderful right to celebrate, abortion opened the doorway to pain, death, and suffering in their life.  These women will be silent no more.
